Manistee River Clean-Up

Americorps • July 10, 2019

Calling all recreational users of the Manistee River, it is time to clean up your river! Join OTG for the fifth annual Manistee River Clean-Up event in partnership with Steelhead Manifesto on Saturday, July 20. This is a well-attended event where every year volunteers make an impact on the Manistee River. The Manistee River is well-known for not only its beauty but also its use for recreational activities, such as fishing, kayaking, canoeing, tubing and more. Unfortunately, garbage piles up along the banks of the river as well as along the bottom. A clean-up event such as this one is essential for the sake of aquatic habitats and the continuation of our recreational activities on the river.

Roger Hinchcliff, with Steelhead Manifesto, has been behind this clean-up for years and understands the importance of rallying other non-consumptive users (such as yourself) to clean-up the river. We are conservation in action and the Manistee River is calling to you.

On Saturday, July 12, 2025, MUCC hosted another successful Manistee River Cleanup at High Bridge Boat Launch in partnership with Steelhead Manifesto, USDA Forest Service, and the Michigan DNR. This annual event has taken place for the last 11 years, with MUCC having been involved from the very beginning. This is also one of our highest attended events with around 60 volunteers each year committed to cleaning up the river for all to enjoy.
