November 2025 NRC Preview
The Natural Resources Commission (NRC) will meet Thursday, November 6, 9:30 a.m. at Lansing Community College West Campus in Lansing.
This month, the commission will again see a heavy set of fisheries and wildlife regulation conversations — from predator management to bass season rules to spearfishing.
A full slate of public comment is scheduled — with commenters representing bass clubs, trout anglers, Michigan Bow Hunters, and the spearfishing community scheduled to speak to the commission.
Major items on the agenda include:
Coyote hunting and trapping
Wildlife Division will present on the coyote hunting and trapping season and the new coyote management season. A vote on
Wildlife Conservation Order Amendment #10 of 2025 is eligible for action in December.
Turkey / Upland Game Bird Habitat
Wildlife Division and NWTF will provide an update on turkey and upland game bird habitat issues and restoration efforts.
Warmwater sportfish regulations
Fisheries Order 206.26 is again back before the commission — bass season, and two amendments related to special warmwater regulations, will draw substantial comment.
Spearfishing regulations
Fisheries Order 219.26 — spearfishing — is back with a proposed amendment before the commission, including some of the proposed changes from the Michigan Spearfishing Association and supported by MUCC.
Great Lakes trout & salmon
Fisheries Order 253.26 would amend rules on the Great Lakes and connecting waters for trout and salmon.
