To be a leader, you must be willing to lead. MUCC vows to never shy away from the opportunity to lead, partner, collaborate and work with other organizations and groups with similar interests and goals. In order to fulfill its mission, MUCC strategically partners with corporations, foundations and individuals in an effort to ensure that conservation principles remain steadfast in Michigan. Here are a few of our current partnerships.
The George F. Riley Foundation
Together with his wife, Dolores, and children, Mr. Riley established The Riley Foundation, a conduit through which many recreation, education, and conservation projects and programs will forever pay dividends. Specifically, through the Novi Chapter of Safari Club International (SCI), The Riley Foundation has created the “Michigan Wilderness Student Adventure” program which sends roughly 80 boys and girls to the Michigan OutofDoors Youth Camp each year. The program places an emphasis on sending children to camp who have limited outdoor experience, limited financial wherewithal, and/or lack of an active mentor to expose them to outdoor activities. Since the program’s inception, roughly 550 children have spent nearly one week in a wilderness setting where they are exposed to fishing, canoeing, swimming, archery, firearms safety and more.
The Ryan Newman Foundation
Ryan Newman, NASCAR driver and avid fisherman, has a lot of good memories revolving around fishing with his grandfather in Michigan. He is a passionate conservationist and is dedicated to connecting youth to the outdoors. In 2009 his Foundation sent three youth to the Michigan OutofDoors Youth Camp and also donated the money to build a new dock at the Cedar Lake Outdoor Center.
Michigan International Speedway’s MIS Cares Foundation
The Michigan International Speedway is an organization dedicated to its surrounding community. Made up of individuals who are passionate and interested in giving back to both the community, Michigan’s youth and our natural resources, MIS has adopted MUCC and its camp program as one of its official charities. In 2009 the MIS Cares Foundation donated the funding to completely rebuild the beach at our Cedar Lake Outdoor Center Camp and the Michigan International Speedway donated critical funds MUCC needed to finalize the first 10 modules of its exciting new conservation-focused camp programming.
