Conservation Partners = Commitment to Michigan’s Outdoors
For more than 70 years, Michigan United Conservation Clubs and Michigan OutofDoors Magazine have worked to protect Michigan’s great outdoors and preserve our outdoors heritage. Fighting for conservation and ensuring our rights to hunt, fish and trap are not infringed upon does not come without a price. It’s the support of our members, advertisers, sponsors and partners that make it possible. The MUCC Conservation Partners program is a new initiative aimed at bringing some of Michigan’s top businesses, companies and organizations into the MUCC and Michigan OutofDoors Magazine family. If you have the opportunity, please thank the following Partners for supporting MUCC and helping defend Michigan’s outdoors. They truly deserve our thanks and our patronage. If you are interested in being part of the Conservation Partners family, please contact Erin McDonough at email@example.com or (800) 777-6720.
The Country Smokehouse
In 1988, Steve and Sue Francis started processing deer in the garage of their Almont home as a hobby. Today, that hobby has grown into one of Michigan’s largest and most respected processing facilities and specialty meat products stores. The Country Smokehouse is more than just a processor, it’s a destination for Michigan sportsmen and women. The Country Smokehouse, located on Van Dyke Road just north of Almont, has won countless awards for its jerk and sausages. For those of you who cherish your outdoor traditions, however, the Smokehouse should be best known for its generous support of MUCC and Michigan OutofDoors Magazine. The Francis family have been long-time supporters of MUCC and its mission and recently became one of the first MUCC Conservation Partners. Ice Mountain is best known for providing clean, clear drinking water. Here at MUCC, we know Ice Mountain for its generosity. For several years, Ice Mountainhas been a primary sponsor of MUCC’s TRACKS Magazine. Tracks is an upper elementary reader designed to teach students about conservation and Michigan wildlife and habitats.Ice Mountain’s support of TRACKS is not an oddity however. In fact, Ice Mountain is one of the few companies that focuses on sustainable water resource managemen. Ice Mountain has on-staff geologists that monitor its spring water sources and their surrounding areas. Supporting youth education also is not new to Ice Mountain. The company’s WET program (Water Education for Teachers) has educated some 25 million kids about the importance of water conservation. The company also has a decade-long partnership with The Nature Conservancy which has led to the conservation of 426,000 acres of valuable natural resources. Ice Mountain also leases or purchases land around the springs from which their water comes from and leaves most of that land undeveloped to provide wildlife habitat.
Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights
The Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights (MRCC) is a trade union that represents more than 20,000 journeyman carpenters, millwrights and apprentices across the State of Michigan. That membership is comprised of its fair share of hunters and anglers. The MRCC has been a valuable partner to MUCC, contributing plenty of manhours and expertise in an effort to refurbish facilities that will soon be part of MUCC’s Camp For Kids. The MRCC benefits Michigan’s economy with comprehensive, world-class apprenticeship and preapprenticeship program, and continues with new training and specialization programs to keep pace with developments in construction methods and technology. ShowSpan shares many similarities with MUCC and Michigan OutofDoors Magazine. For starters, both have been around for more than 60 years. They also each have a true passion for the outdoors. ShowSpan has grown into one of the nation’s top producers and promoters of consumer sports shows with the majority of their productions focused on the great outdoors here in Michigan. ShowSpan produces Michigan’s largest shows including The Ultimate Fishing Show in Detroit, The Ultimate Sports Show in Grand Rapids, the Grand Rapids Boat Show and, of course our favorite — Outdoorama in Novi. More than that, they have been true friends of MUCC, Michigan OutofDoors Magazine and Michigan’s outdoors community. MUCC is proud to include ShowSpan as one of our Conservation Partners. ShowSpan’s support of MUCC’s youth education programs ensures that Michigan’s future generations will appreciate conservation. Please click here to make plans to attend a ShowSpan event this season.
