Plant a Tree this Weekend - or Plant 1,000 with Us!

CPSGA1smMichigan United Conservation Clubs is teaming up with Huron Pines and the Department of Natural Resources to plant jack pine trees near Grayling this Saturday, May 3. The trees will provide habitat for Kirtland's warblers, as well as provide thermal cover and browse for game species like whitetails.
We'll meet at Burton's Landing State Forest Campground in the Hartwick Pines State Park between 8:30 and 9:00, then shuttle to the planting site a couple miles away. Lunch will be provided by Gates AuSable Lodge, and we should be done planting approximately 1,200 trees by early afternoon with plenty of time to spend the afternoon fishing one of Michigan's premier trout rivers.
Volunteers will also receive a free t-shirt and a digital subscription to Michigan OutofDoors Magazine. Sign up the May 3 Jack Pine Planting Workday here: www.volunteernorthernmichigan.org.
Email dyoungedyke@mucc.org or call 517.346.6486 with any questions. Bring a shovel if you have one and dress for a 40% chance of rain. See you there!
