On Saturday, April 15th, 2017 at 9am we will be meeting in the Gourdneck State Game Area to plant trees for thermal cover in a wildlife opening. This project will be partnered with Brandon Thomas' Eagle Scout Project along with Boy Scout Troop 253 of Vicksburg. This is the second phase of wildlife habitat improvement in this wildlife opening; the first involved building brush piles along the outer edges of the opening to provide cover for rabbits and other small game. The trees will include white cedar, white spruce, fraser fir and norway spruce and will be planted in clusters throughout the opening to provide areas of thermal cover for whitetail deer, turkey, and small game.
Project site location GPS coordinates: 42.148627, -85.594094
All tools, safety equipment, lunch and water will be provided by MUCC as well as a free T-shirt for all volunteers. Please RSVP below to volunteer for Brandon Thomas' Eagle Scout Project! Contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or comments regarding the event.
