OTG: Forestview Natural Area Rabbitat

On Tuesday, September 1, 2015 we will be meeting at 9AM at one of Little Forks Land Conservancy’s properties; the Forestview Natural Area. We will be cutting invasive trees from along the riverbank and constructing large brush piles for rabbitat. This project is possible largely in part of support from the Saginaw Bay Watershed Initiative Network grant!

An impressive wetland area, this 70-acre property is home to many species of amphibians and features a ridge of hemlock and white pine, while the forest floor has an abundance of ferns. The open forest floor will benefit from adding large brush piles for rabbits to take cover from predators under.

We will have a few extra chainsaws to provide along with full sets of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)- kevlar chaps, sawyer helmets, gloves and safety glasses. Handsaws and loppers will be available as well and volunteers will be needed to move and stack brush.

Lunch will be provided for all volunteers by MUCC. You will receive a free OTG T-Shirt and a free digital subscription to Michigan OutofDoors Magazine.
