MUCC Gearing Up for 2014 Regional Meetings; Policy ResolutionsJanuary 22nd, 2014
MUCC’s Annual Regional Meetings are coming up in February and this is your chance to help set MUCC’s policies and priorities. Get your resolutions ready!
MUCC’s membership establishes the organization’s policies and priorities each year at MUCC’s Annual Convention in June through resolutions that come from MUCC members, clubs, districts, regions or board of directors. The regional meetings are the one place that MUCC’s member clubs and districts can bring forth resolutions that may go on to MUCC’s Annual Convention. The locations and times are below.
If you are interested in writing a resolution and are looking for an example, check out the policies that passed at the 2013 Convention (2011 and 2012 also available online) and review this document, A Member’s Guide to MUCC’s Policy Setting Process, for more information on writing resolutions. If you want to know if we have past policy on a specific issue or need assistance with research, please contact Resource Policy Manager Amy Trotter at firstname.lastname@example.org or 517‐346‐6484.
We hope you will consider participating in both the resolution setting process and the MUCC Annual Convention this year, coming up on June 20-22, 2014 at the DNR RAM Center in Roscommon.
While we encourage all MUCC members to attend the regional meeting closest to them, this year is critical, and in fact we want to invite members of the public to attend as well! At each regional meeting, MUCC staff will give a brief informational session on the Citizens for Professional Wildlife Management petition drive to put the citizen-initiated law, the Scientific Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, before the Michigan legislature. Blank petitions will be available for pick up and if you are already collecting signatures, this would be a good opportunity to hand in those already collected.
