Support Wolf Management In Michigan

Michigan wolf management is currently under debate.

Legislative action that would designate wolves as a game animal and move the state towards a sensible, science-based management plan is afoot.

Rep. Matt Huuki, a Republican from the Houghton area, introduced House Bill 5834 which would designate wolves as a game animal, opening the door for sensible, science-based wildlife management of Michigan’s wolf population. Recently, a Senate version of the bill was also discussed and introduction may be pending.

Michigan United Conservation Clubs has testified in support of the billsĀ  and we need your voice with us to ensure the Legislature hears the voice of the hunting community loud and clear.

Michigan’s wolf population has far surpassed the requirements for removal from the Endangered Species Act. Lawsuits and efforts by anti-hunting organizations delayed the delisting of wolves in Michigan for years. With delisting finally official and complete, it’s time that Michigan’s wolf population is managed and this natural, renewable resource is utilized.

To show your support for the passage of H.B. 5834 and science-based wildlife management, please “sign” your name below. Please show your support and share this opportunity with friends and family.

Together, we can make our voice heard and take the first step towards returning wolf management to its rightful place — with the citizens of the state of Michigan.
