Michigan On-the-Ground: Rabbitat at Gratiot-Saginaw SGA
Michigan On-the-Ground (OTG) is a public-private partnership between MUCC and the DNR Wildlife and Fisheries Divisions to engage volunteers in on-the-ground habitat restoration and enhancement projects.
On March 10, we’ll be making “Rabbitat” (rabbit habitat) at the Gratiot-Saginaw State Game Area. Volunteers will build brush piles out of box elder trees at the edges of where fields transition to standing timber to provide shelter for cottontails, which also benefits other species like pheasant and nongame birds.
If we finish in time, we may even go rabbit hunting when we’re done (hint: the more people we have, the earlier we finish and the more time we have to hunt, so bring lots of friends and a small game license!)
Groups, clubs and individuals welcome!
Please RSVP by emailing Drew YoungeDyke, MUCC Grassroots Manager, at dyoungedyke@mucc.org with the subject line, “OTG,” or by calling 517.346.6486.
