Defend the Hunt

Defend the Hunt is a collaborative program between MUCC and the Michigan Trappers and Predator Callers association (MTPCA). The program began in 2013 in an effort to raise funds to protect the rights of hunters, anglers, and trappers in the state of Michigan.  The idea is simple: deer hunters donate their hides to the program which are later sold at fur bearers auctions. The funds generated from these sales provide seed money for future campaigns that threaten the rights of hunters, anglers, and trappers. The program is credited for raising several thousand dollars to purchase petitions to lobby in favor of the Scientific Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.

There are two different ways you can get involved in the program:

  1. Your business can register as a deer hide drop-off site.

  2. You can donate your hide at a registered Defend the Hunt drop-off site.
