Clubs: You Have Been Challenged to Support Camp

As you can imagine, more than six decades of kids can have quite an impact on a facility.

The MUCC camp, which is located at the Cedar Lake Outdoor Center near Chelsea, is in need of some spring sprucing and the Montmorency County Conservation Club has stepped up to issue a challenge to other MUCC affiliates in an effort to see the work is done.

The Montmorency County Conservation Club recently pledged $1,500 for the purchase of new mattresses in the camp bunkhouses and is challenging other MUCC clubs to meet or beat their level of commitment.

"I really like this idea of a matching-funds challenge and want to thank the Montmorency County Conservation Club for issuing the challenge," said Dennis Muchmore, Executive Director of MUCC. "The clubs are the foundation on which MUCC was built and to see them taking such an active role in the restoration of the camp facilities really says a lot about the level of dedication and caring that's involved. It's no secret that there is a great amount of expense involved in running a camp of this caliber. We really appreciate the support of our clubs and are hoping this challenge will spark some good-natured competition in the name of youth education."

The camp needs about 100 new mattresses at a cost of $125 each but mattresses aren't the only things the camp needs.

A new roof was recently installed on the main bunkhouse and donations to offset the substantial cost would be greatly appreciated. From canoes to stoves to basic supplies, the camp's wish list is a long one.
