Action Alert | Protect Great Lakes Fisheries!

New legislation has been introduced in the Michigan House of Representatives by Rep. Jon Bumstead (R-Newago) to ban commercial net-pen fish farms in the Great Lakes.  House Bill 5255 would ban commercial cage culture operations from Michigan-controlled waters of the Great Lakes.

This is a top priority of MUCC and we are asking our members to contact each legislative committee member to ask them to say Yes to HB 5255 and No to net-pens in the Great Lakes! Read along for their contact information.

Good conservation begins with each individual. Please contact your Reps to support this bill. Do the research regarding commercial cage culture operations . At first glance is sounds like it’s good but once you begin reading more about it you will see the cons out-weigh the pros. This is not a good thing for our precious Michigan waters.
