Deer numbers seemed unaffected by any disease. My brassica food plots are still getting hammered by deer this winter. Still disappointed in the buck to doe ratio, however, in Shiawassee County.

The deer herd in Western Hillsdale County has been eradicated by the blood disease. Farmers report no animals in the post deer season and sightings by hunters during the season resembled hunting in 1970.
Between the disease and coyotes, I suspect deer hunting will never return to the levels seen in the 1990s and the early part of the 21st century. I suspect the insurance companies see the bright side but for long time hunters, it appears to be a disaster. I only hope the turkeys can continue to thrive.
