Reserved Waterfowl Hunt Applications On SaleAugust 23rd, 2012
Applications are on sale now through Tuesday, August 28 for reserved managed waterfowl hunts. Both morning and afternoon hunts are offered during opening weekend of waterfowl season at Fishing Point, Harsens Island, Nayanquing Point and Shiawassee River State Game Area.
Hunters must have updated licenses and stamps and be accompanied by up to three hunters. The DNR is encouraging youth to apply for these unique hunts by reserving the opening-day afternoon hunts for hunters 16 and under. Reserved managed waterfowl hunts provide special access to some of the best duck- hunting areas in the state.
Applications cost $4 and are available online here.
Hunters do not need to apply for these special hunts in order to spend the fall duck hunting. The Natural Resources Commission recently approved the new waterfowl and goose season dates. Duck season dates this year are:

- Middle Zone: Sept. 29 – Nov. 25 and Dec. 15-16

Duck bag limits increased to the maximum allowed under federal regulation, albeit that hunters can only take one female mallard daily. The daily limit for scaup increased from two to four.
