The state isn’t fulfilling its upkeep obligations on much of the land it currently holds. Placing a cap on DNR land seems quite reasonable as they already have 4,472,175 acres according to their own website. Granted, some of that is tied up in Camp Grayling, but there should be a cap nonetheless. I’d have no problem with the 4.6 million acre cap if they made it a rolling one that allowed a time (12-18 months) to sell less valuable parcels in order to preserve more critical ones.

The bottom line is that we’d all like to have 5 million acres under State protection for our current recreational enjoyment and posterity, but we simply cannot afford such a luxury.

These politicians better not try to steal the last thing we have…good land and wildlife of northern Mi and U.P.

I am not in favor of limiting state ownership of land in any way.
