You cannot seperate land use activitites such as gas well access roads, multi-use recreational trails, from forest and wildlife management. Right now, you have one spot at a local Unit where these are reviewed by a local forest Unit Manager and Wildlife Biologist. Centralizing the issuing of permits in Lansing will be a disaster. Don’t kid yourself; the main reason this is happening is due to pressures from the oil and gas and timber industries.
As a retired DNR employee with 34 years experience I cannot envision this reorganization in any positive light.
