New clubs approved for membershipAugust 17th, 2011
Three new clubs were approved for affiliation with MUCC at the August 13, 2011 Board of Directors meeting. We welcome these clubs and thank them for joining us to help in the fight to protect the rights of hunters, anglers and trappers.
Ducks Unlimited, Michigan was approved in the category of Statewide Affiliate club. Headquartered in Ann Arbor, Ducks Unlimited raises funds for conservation, restoration and management of wetlands and associated habitats for waterfowl. Their current state chairman is Terry M. Laymon of Grosse Pointe Woods and the MUCC contact is Gildo Tori, Director of Public Policy at the Ann Arbor office.
The Ruffed Grouse Field Trial Club was re-affiliated into District 20. This 15 member club specializes in breeding and training birddogs and competing in field trials. They conduct junior handler training events for youth and volunteer at state game areas where field trials are held. The president of this club is Chuck Langstaff of Lansing and his wife, Theda is the MUCC representative.
Also returning to MUCC affiliation is the Beard and Spurs Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation which was approved as a Sustaining club. They are located in District 7 and focus their efforts on upland game habitat improvements. Their president is Brian Williams of Waterford.
